FAQ
LayerOps stands out mainly in the following ways:
- Users consume their own billing accounts and retain control and visibility over their costs.
- The platform (console and API) is multi-cloud “by design,” distributed between two French providers and five regions, in order to limit any service downtime following a major failure of one of the cloud/hosting providers.
- Guaranteed portability at any time from one provider to another: you are free to change cloud providers at any time, where your data is stored, and to add more to benefit from specific added value from a particular provider.
- All data is stored on the customer's resources, including backups, to enable reversibility at any time.
- Users can deploy their own container from their Docker registry, Git, etc.
By default, LayerOps secures all network traffic coming from the internet and between your applications (Service Mesh mTLS, TLS certificates, SSL, HTTPS).
LayerOps allows you to monitor the resource consumption of your applications and provides dashboards (memory, CPU, disk usage, etc.). Set up contacts and receive alerts in case of problems.
Yes. We are compatible with several hosting providers.
For example, you may have two APIs: one that consumes few resources but must be highly available, and a second one that consumes a lot of CPU.
To avoid high costs, you can deploy your first API on a public cloud with horizontal scalability, and your second API on a dedicated server. This allows you to combine the two and enjoy the benefits of each hosting provider.
No, LayerOps is an automated platform deployment and monitoring solution.
LayerOps integrates with your existing hosting providers of choice, with guaranteed portability and cross-cloud (multi-cloud & hybrid-cloud) resilience.
Yes, the data is hosted on your servers and virtual machines.
We handle the operational side and have no knowledge of your data.
Outsourced automatic backup options are available, but the data still belongs to you (your own S3 accounts).
Yes, creating an account is free.
You only pay for the environments you create and manage through our platform.
If another user adds you to their project to enable collaboration, you will still not be charged.
Only the owner of an environment is billed.
Although LayerOps charges for each environment created, please take into account the fees charged by your cloud service providers or the costs associated with your on-premises infrastructure.
LayerOps does not rebill for cloud resources where services are deployed, which are created using the customer's billing accounts. (BYOC)
All packages include community support.
For Basic and Premium plans, an optional “Professional Assistance” package will be available at an additional cost.
The price and details of Professional Assistance are determined with the sales team based on your needs.
The orchestrator is deployed on a single cloud provider and does not guarantee high availability. If the chosen cloud provider experiences a service interruption or issues in the region where your orchestrator is hosted, your environment may become temporarily inaccessible.
However, this only affects the “console” function (i.e., Control Plane), but does not affect the user environments on which the services are deployed.
For better high availability, we recommend choosing a multi-cloud orchestrator, starting with the “Pro” package.
Orchestrator sizes (S, L, and XL) refer to the size of the virtual machines (VMs) that host the orchestrator.
Each size offers different resource capacities to support various workload requirements.
The number of services and instances is based on the maximum scale defined for each of them.
For example, a single service with a scale ranging from 1 to 10 would fully utilize the service limit of the Pro plan.
Yes, since LayerOps deploys on your own cloud accounts, you can use any existing credits or discounts provided by your cloud service providers.
The price is set per environment, allowing for an unlimited number of users within each environment.
However, RBAC (role-based access control), which allows precise access to resources in the environment, is only available as part of the Premium plan.
